Party Hard, Work Harder

Published by sayan666 at 11:23 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Party time is over. It’s 2009 in every part of the world now which signals the end of festivities for the time being. It’s like people are just looking for an excuse to make merry. In the Christian countries it’s understandable; for them this period from the 25th to the 31st marks a big festivity but for people in India? We celebrate our traditional New Years, numerous festivals like Diwali, Holi, Dussera (each one no less than the other in terms of importance) and then the Christian New Year too. And we want holidays for all of these occasions! Are we downright lazy or is it just that the cumulative grief of poor India is so large that we are on constant lookout for opportunities to laugh it out?

The good thing is that everyone lightens up which is also much needed in our busy times but the funny part is that it’s almost compulsory to celebrate! Ayn Rand wrote long ago that people should celebrate only after an achievement. Celebrations without achievements are hollow and superfluous. Maybe it’s time to take inspiration from these words and reflect before we partake in mindless revelling. I say let’s pary hard but work harder.
