An eternity of civilisation and we are no better than barbarians. History textbooks may give one the feeling that we are born in a peaceful time. We are past all the World Wars and The Cold War and all the revolutions and independence struggles that took place all over the world. Yes, there is no World War now, but the entire world is at war separately. Is it any better?

News just in that the Sri Lankan Army has decimated the last stronghold of the LTTE but critics argue that they will now resort to Guerrilla warfare. When will it end? Never. There will always be a section among the people who will feel more deprived than the rest and the inculcation of extremist ideas into them is no new concept. This has been the basis of all freedom struggles and so it shall always be.
